AEROFIT - Christine Bird

AEROFIT GRADE 2-6 (non-competition)

 

OBJECTIVES

 Completing first 30 seconds of the new Aerofit routine as well as mastering previous skills.

Having fun and enjoying the sport whilst focusing on fitness and flexibility.

 

NUMBERS

 Twenty-nine athletes attended practices regularly this term.

 

ACTIVITIES

 Aerofit Practice days : Mondays (Gymnasium) and Thursdays (Strelitzia) : 15:30 - 16:30

At the beginning of every practice, attendance register is kept of athletes' participation. Every practice consist of the following:

ü  Warm up activities i.e. jogging, high energy movements, burpees, etc.

ü  Stretching i.e. from neck to calves, walk stretches without bending knees, lunges, etc.

ü  Practicing of skills in a routine.

ü  Strength, cardio, flexibility and static skills

ü  Cool down/stretching/planking

ü  Homework given of skills to practice till the next session.

 

SAAFA (Sport Aerobics) 11-13 years

 

OBJECTIVES

 Finding appropriate music for the SAAFA Duo and SAAFA Individual routines. Start with routine choreography for both categories.

 

NUMBERS

 Three SAAFA athletes training for next year.

 

ACTIVITIES

 SAAFA Practice days : Mondays (Gymnasium) 14:30 - 15:30

                                     Tuesdays (Strelitzia) 14:30 - 15:30

 Focus was on practicing skills to be included in the routine as well as skills development such as the 3 compulsory movements and required jumps, strength and flexibility skills. We also took some time sorting out appropriate music for the routines and start with choreography.

 

Annual report - 2014

A new sport, called Aerofit, has been introduced this year to Grade 2-4 girls. It consists of basic dance, aerobic and gymnastic elements combined into a two minute high impact routine. By participating in Aerofit, athletes develop in their flexibility and strength as well as teamwork, performance and commitment. A team of 8 athletes was selected to represent Sunridge Primary as the Sunshine Sweethearts at the Eastern Cape Fitness Sport Aerobics and Hip Hop Provincial Championships held on Saturday 24 May 2014 at Linkside High School and they achieved 4th place in their respective category. Sunridge is proud of their performance as beginners to this sport. 

Annual report - 2015

Sunridge Primary entered the Eastern Cape Fitness Sport Aerobics and Hip Hop Provincial Championships in May this year with athletes participating in two categories, namely Aerofit Individual and SAAFA Sport Aerobics Trio. Mia-Cara Hart competed in the Aerofit Individual category and achieved a bronze medal which qualified her to represent Sunridge Primary at the SASAFF National Championships in Cape Town during 26 - 28 June 2015. She obtained 8th place and her Eastern Cape Provincial colours in Aerofit.

Jaime Alcock, Jessica Oosthuizen and Alexandra Schenk competed in the SAAFA Sport Aerobics Trio category and achieved a gold medal which qualified them to represent Sunridge Primary at the SASAFF National Championships in Cape Town during 26 - 28 June 2015. They obtained 1st place and their Eastern Cape Provincial colours in Sport Aerobics.

Sunridge is proud of their performance on Provincial and National level.

Annual report - 2016

Sunridge Primary Aerofit athletes proudly performed at the Eastern Cape Fitness Sport Aerobics and Hip Hop Provincial Championships in May this year participating in three categories. Mieke Jamneck and Gabrielle Rowe competed in the Aerofit Individual 7-10 year category and received Gold and Silver medal respectively.  Elmien Hartslief, Melissa le Grange, Chloé Critschlow (Bronze medal) and Lara Kleinhans (Gold medal) competed in the Aerofit Individual 10-14 year category. Mia-Cara Hart competed this year in the SAAFA Sport Aerobics Individual category and achieved a Gold medal.

Sunridge Primary was represented at the SASAFF National Championships in Cape Town during 24 - 26 June 2016 and achieved the following results:  Chloé Critchlow (5th place) and Lara Kleinhans (Silver medal) in their category and received ECSAFF Federation colours.  Mia-Cara Hart obtained a Gold medal in her category and received Eastern Cape Provincial colours.

 Sunridge is proud of their performance on Provincial and National level.
